Coaches Classic finals

Posted Saturday, April 09, 2011 by Mike Hout
We are so glad to be able to say that the weather was warm for a second meet.  We are also happy to say that the rain held off.  There were several times the drops started flying but thankfully it stopped and we were able to continue on with a decent evening.  The wind was harsh at time (which really affected the hurdlers and the vaulters) but it was generally a pretty good early season meet.

Miamisburg did not try to peak for this meet.  In fact, the athletes all went through hard workouts the day before.  Despite all of that, there were still lots of good performances.  Tyler Ikert had a personal best in the shot put as did Darcy Householder in the discus for fifth place.  The 4x800 boys relay team improved on their season best, good for 8th place overall.  We were near placers in several events.  Christina Murr nearly scored despite the headwinds in the 100 hurdles.  The girls 4x100 team also finished a strong 9th and Donnie Whyte ran in that position in the 800.  The boys 4x100 team is starting to come together.  Trinity Meeks and Brett Hoefling gave it their best.  Michael Melko nearly broke 10 minutes in the 3200 despite lots of running the day before.  The star of the meet, though, was Zak Kruer who had a great pr in the pole vault for second (13-6) and a good run in the wind for fourth in the 300 hurdles.

We may not be as strong as last year in some areas but this team is showing some good spunk.  There are lots of surprises ahead for fans of this program!
