Stebbins meet

Miamisburg had lots of athletes in the recent Stebbins meet.  It seemed like we were everywhere.  It also seemed like the cold was everywhere, too.  I thought that was all behind us.  At least it didn't rain but it was pretty cool to enjoy long stretches of competition, like the pole vault which was going strong at 9pm when John Fontaine got out at eleven feet.  Wayne had a 15 foot vaulter still waiting to start.  Who knows how long they were there until all of that was finished?

Lydia Berry showed her stuff by winning the high jump and coming in second in the 300 hurdles.  Christina Murr won both the 100 and 300 hurdles.  Zak Kruer won the 300 hurdles in near pr time.  Householder and Meeks led a one-two finish in the girls discus.  Trinity came back to also get a second in the shot put.  The boys also led a one-two charge.  Myers and Call finished in the top spots in the boys shot put.

The most exciting moment for this writer was the finish of the 4x200 relay.  Cole Cooper took the baton in 3rd and ran a strong turn with an even stronger finish to pass Wilmington, whereupon the Wilmington runner stomped around and threw his baton down saying "I had it won.  I had it won."

Here are the results without the boys pole vault which still might be going on this very minute:
