GWOC prelims at Fairborn - can you say SUNBURN!!!

Posted Wednesday, May 11, 2011 by Mike Hout
Yow, did the weather change for the GWOC prelims at Fairborn on Wednesday, May 11th.  You could walk around and look at athletes shoulders and see lots of red.  Man, was it hot earlier in the day.  The good news is that the Viking athletes responded despite the sun beating down on everyone.

The complete results are finally in.  The boys 4x800 won the divisional title and are back on Friday along with the boys 4x400, who ran their hearts out to squeak in the finals.  Great opening legs, Donnie Whyte!  Zac Kruer made it back in the 300 hurdles and the pole vault.  Ayanna Pringle became the first female in Miamisburg history to break 60 seconds in the 400.  Congratulations on that school record!  We look forward to seeing what she can do in the Friday finals.  Michael Melko was second in the 1600.  It looks like Christina Murr made it in the 100 hurdles.  The girls 4x200 is definitely in along with the girls 4x100 team.  Darcy Householder finished second in the discus and will be back for the big finals.  Trinity Meeks appeares to have snuck in for the shot put.  Who did I miss?  Jenna Parlette won her heat in the 1600 but (sadly) she was forced into the slow heat since she didn't have a time in that race this year.  Laura Shaw nearly made it back in the pole vault and was only kept out because of misses!

Look for the complete results below.  I am going to put some lotion on my sunburn.
