District finals and beautiful weather!

Posted Saturday, May 21, 2011 by Mike Hout
What great weather it was for the finals of our district.  There is rain predicted for every day in the next week and a half but this meet would be held on the one day of sunshine and dry weather.  Other coaches went by me and said, since the weather was so nice, they hardly knew how to act!

Our runners, jumpers and throwers knew how to act and they went out and competed with everything they had.  Congratulations to the girls 4x100 team.  They qualified for the regionals.  Michael Melko also qualified in the 3200.  Donnie Whyte set another school record and was announced as another qualifier for the regionals.  But when the meet was over they called for the Miamisburg coach and when Coach Johnson returned he had to share the sad news that they looked at the finish photo for the 800 again.  It was decided Donnie was outleaned at the tape!  Arghh!!!  We had some other close finishes, too.

Ayanna Pringle just missed by finishing fifth in the 400.  Trinity Meeks was fifth in the shot put.  The boys 4x200 had a bad handoff but came back to nearly make it, only to find out that they were disqualified after passing out of the zone.  Christina Murr was sixth in the 100 hurdles.  The girls 4x200 team was sixth.  Laura Shaw was sixth in the pole vault.  Jenna Parlette was 7th in the 3200.  Quentin Mullen also finished 7th in the 3200.  The boys and girls 4x400 both finished 7th.  Eighth place finishers included Lydia Berry in the 300 hurdles,  Ayanna Pringle in the 200 and Brett Hoefling in the long jump.
