Coaches Classic prelims at Fairfield

Posted Tuesday, April 03, 2012 by Mike Hout
We didn't win this meet.......but it sure felt like we did!  Wow, did we put on a show.  There were several events where the Burg strutted their stuff and dominated.  Like in the 3200 with Michael Melko and Quentin Mullen in sunglasses.  Mullen also added lots of hand signs as he went in front of his team in the stands.  Then there was the 800 meter stretch run between Cody Callison and Corey Dillon.  They ran neck and neck for a full 100 meters and leaned at the finish for another 1-2 Miamisburg finish.  As Coach Johnson said "that was beautiful....just beautiful".  Cody Hamblin and Kyle Tollett finished an impressive first and third in the long jump.  Kyle's mark was a new personal record.  Both 4x400 relays showed good team spirit and continually challenged for the lead.  They have us an exciting finish to the meet and the girls moved to #5 on the all-time Miamisburg list.

The good results were everywhere......like the both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles by Brooklyn Mikesell and Maddy Brown, in the boys domination of the 4x800 relay, by Jordan Townsley and Grace Steingass in the 1600 and Jordan's double in the 800, the Zak attack pole vault with Zak Kruer and Zach Marcott, Josh Sensenbaugh and Elliott Zech in the 1600, the boys 4x100 and 4x200 relay, Marlena Clark and Ajea Miracle in the shot put and Tyler Ikert in the shot and disc.

Danielle Pfeiffer from McCauley also put on a good show at the meet.  She easily won the 800 (she ran a 2:08 indoors this year) and anchored her winning 4x800 team.  While waiting to anchor her 4x400 team she posed for pictures with a few very happy Miamisburg boys!  Read more about her big comeback at the state last year in the 4x800 relay.  All the way from 6th to 2nd and she almost won it for her team:

It will be a fun meet on Wednesday's finals at Winton Woods.  We have a busload going and some guys can't wait to see Danielle again!
