Northmont Relays - we are the champions!

Posted Wednesday, May 02, 2012 by Mike Hout
How exciting to get the entire meet in despite the fact that rain was forecast.  Several times it looked like something was brewing with the wind and the humidity but in the end we got the whole meet meet in.

And are we glad we did because Miamisburg dominated everywhere and came home with the championship in the boys division and the girls division.  I did not see much as I was busy with our six pole vaulters, but Miamisburg was here and there and practically everywhere winning events or placing high and scoring lots of points.  I can specifically speak for our vaulters as we had the best three girls (in a new Miamisburg record of 24-0 feet), we had the best single gal (Laura Shaw at 9-0 feet), we had the best three guys (in a new Miamisburg record of 36-0 feet) and we had the single best guy (Zak Kruer at 14-6).  What had to be some of the most exciting moments of the meet were Zak's three attempts at 15-2, a new school record.  Larry Jessee's 15-1 1/2 record has stood for 42 years (1970) and everyone watching today realized that this mark is on its last legs.  Zak's last two vaults were tantalizingly close.
