Hout returns from Greensboro, North Carolina where he scouted out the track where the nationals will be held

We are looking ahead and dreaming at Miamisburg Track and Field.  On the first weekend of December Mike Hout was in Greensboro, North Carolina checking out the track at the University of North Carolina A&T.  This is where the national high school championship is held every year.  Here is what he can report.

The running surface is blue and the surface is quite smooth.  It is almost totally enclosed by a stadium that holds 21,500 people.  The stadium could easily be classified "a horseshoe" but we know there is only one "Horseshoe" and that is in Columbus, Ohio!  The track is referred to as an "Olympic Class track."  The open end of the stadium has a building full of state of the art fitness and wellness equipment.

There were a number of people using the track.  Hout met two of the women from the track team: Nakita Gray and Tatianna Clark.  Nakita is a 5-8 high jumper and Tatianna is an 18 foot long jumper and 39 foot triple jumper.  She also has run a 12.8 100.  Hout pointed out that the high jump pit was out and wondered if there were any pole vaulters.  "Not a one" they said, which explains why there was no pole vault pit.

Oh, and by the way, the Nike Outdoor nationals at this track will be June 13, 2013.

You can read more about the facility at the following link.  There are also some nice pictures of the stadium and track:
